Melrose Walnut and Cashew nut spreads are made from 80% Walnut and 20% Cashew nuts, nothing else!

Walnuts have significantly higher amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids as compared to other nuts. This polyunsaturated fat is particularly beneficial for the heart as it has been shown that it helps to lower LDL cholesterol levels (the bad cholesterol). Walnuts also provide useful amounts of Folate, a B vitamin that helps to reduce high levels of amino acid, a risk factor for heart disease.

Cashew nuts, a richly sweet product of the cashew tree, have gained popularity not only for their succulent flavour but for health benefits too. Theyhave a relatively high fat content, but it is considered a "good fat".This is due to the agreeable fat ratio in the nut, 1:2:1 for saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated, respectively, which scientists say is the ideal ratio for optimal health. Cashews have no cholesterol and are an energizing food. Cashew nuts have a high energy density and high amount of dietary fibre, both have been attributed to a beneficial effect on weight management, but only when eaten in moderation

Cashews pack a mix of nutrients and minerals not found in many common foods. The cashew nuts' high magnesium content takes the credit for its healthy heart qualities. This heart healthy mineral protects against high blood pressure, muscle spasms, migraine headaches, tension, soreness and fatigue. Magnesium also works with calcium to support healthy muscles and bones in the human body. With a high copper content, too, cashew nut consumption helps the body utilize iron, eliminate free radicals, develop bone and connective tissue, and produce the skin and hair pigment melanin. Copper, another essential component found in cashews, is vital in energy production and antioxidant defence, producing greater flexibility in blood vessels, bones and joints.

Hints and tipsWhy is there oil in the top of the jar?

Melrose nut spreads are made from 100% lightly roasted nuts. Unlike most peanut butters the natural oils in Melrose nut spreads are not subjected to hydrogenation. In normal spreads this hydrogenation turns liquid oils into solids so that they will not separate out. However hydrogenation also produces Trans fatty acids and these have negative health effects.

•Melrose nut spreads contain only natural oils.
•Melrose Nut spreads contain no hydrogenated Oils.
•Melrose nut spreads contain no Trans fats.
When using Melrose nut spreads, simply stir in the natural oils. Do not pour off the oil as this will leave you with a dry spread.
